Chicago 1971

The story of the night Steve Goodman introduced John Prine to Kris Kristofferson.
In the summer of 1971, Kris Kristofferson played three nights at the Quiet Knight in Chicago. His opening act was Steve Goodman, whose original songs knocked Kristofferson's socks off. “If you like my songs, you gotta hear John's.” Goodman encouraged Kristofferson and his friends (improbably, actress Samantha Egger and crooner Paul Anka) to head up to the Earl of Old Town to see his best pal, John Prine. A few moments later, songwriting history was made.
John Ballantyne and his crew will transport audiences back to Chicago, 1971, and feature some of the best Prine/Goodman/Kristofferson tunes.
As Ballantyne says, “This is a Chicago story. In 1871, Chicago was devastated by a great fire, and the world was never the same. Exactly 100 years later, not far from where the 1871 fire started, a different kind of fire was lit. But this time the flames didn't destroy. This fire burned inside 3 incredible songwriters. This fire burned with friendship, kindness, and some truly great songs. And the world was never the same again. I want to tell that story.”
